Clinical trials

Clinical trials represent the crucial interface between innovative cancer research and successful therapy. They provide patients with direct access to the cutting-edge therapeutic developments and offer them the opportunity to benefit immediately from current research results. Around 500 oncological clinical studies are currently being conducted at the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) in Heidelberg. These include both investigator-initiated trials (IITs) and industry-sponsored trials (ISTs). Information for patients on clinical studies can be found in the section “For Patients”.

Clinical Trials at NCT Heidelberg

All non-pediatric trials conducted at NCT Heidelberg are listed here, categorized by entity or research area. They are further classified by first-line therapy, subsequent lines of therapy, surgical, and radiation therapy, as well as other trials. Clicking on an individual study reveals additional details, such as the full title, the trial phase, contact details of the contact person, the principal investigator, and link(s) to registry entries.

Information on pediatric oncology can be found here.

Directories for oncological clinical trials with search function

All open clinical trials conducted at NCT Heidelberg can be found on the trial platforms QuickQueck and CCC-trials.de. These platforms offer various search functions to support users in finding a specific trial. They also list studies conducted at other locations, which can be filtered accordingly. This section further contains a link to the clinical trials offered by Mannheim Cancer Center.

On the website CCC-trials.de, funded by the German Cancer Aid (DKH) through the ONCOnnect project, open clinical trials from all leading German cancer centers (Comprehensive Cancer Centers) can be found. If required, trials that have already been completed can also be displayed. The platform allows filtering by location, line of therapy, biomarkers, patient’s age, and study status, as well as to use keyword or free-text searches.

On the QuickQueck online platform, all active clinical trials at NCT Heidelberg as well as additional oncology trials conducted at other sites that are recruiting in Germany can be found. The platform enables physicians and patients to perform quick and targeted searches. Multiple keywords can simply be entered  separated by a space—for example, UVEA Heidelberg.

A suitable trial in the area can be found at our partner site, Mannheim Cancer Center at the University Medical Center Mannheim (UMM).
