Expansion of NCT Heidelberg

Thanks to financial support from the governments, the NCT Heidelberg now has approximately 50 percent more usable space at its disposal. Specifically, the laboratory wing was expanded northward on all three levels. A three-story new building was constructed between the clinical areas of the two day clinics and the street in Neuenheimer Feld. The new building houses offices and seminar rooms; in the laboratory extension, the ground floor features a clinical research area with ten stations for conducting Phase I trials, with two laboratory areas above it.

The total cost of the expansion, amounting to 20 million euros, was covered by the state of Baden-Württemberg. The furnishings are provided by the sponsors of the NCT Heidelberg: the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD).
