Self-help at NCT Heidelberg

Strong. Self-confident. Well-informed.

People support and reinforce each other in the self-help group. They exchange valuable information and experiences. They gain confidence and are able to cope with their daily routine.

Self-help groups in hospital help in the following ways:

  • Self-help groups pool patient experiences and, acting as their spokesperson, can provide important impulses for optimizing procedures in the hospital.
  • Self-help groups support you whenever you are interested in learning and profiting from the experiences of other patients.
  • Self-help groups pool a large amount of information, they know important contact partners and can assist you as a guide in tackling the next steps.

The Heidelberg Self-help Office is happy to help patients establish contact with self-help groups.

Quality process "Self-help friendly hospital"

The NCT has drawn up a binding cooperation agreement with the Heidelberg Self-help Office, the network "Selbsthilfefreundlichkeit und Patientenorientierung im Gesundheitswesen" and several self-help groups from the oncology sector active at NCT Heidelberg or in the region.

At the core of the cooperation agreement is the quality circle "Self-help friendly NCT", in which the participants systematically review the NCT Heidelberg services and their presentation with regard to self-help and define standards for self-help and thereby also for patient orientation.
