Surgery

For a great number of tumor diseases, surgery is a central element in oncologic therapy. In many cases, the surgical removal of a tumor and/or its metastases leads to a significant improvement in the prognosis of the tumor disease. In some cases, a chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy is performed additionally either before or after surgery. The NCT team works closely with specialists from all surgical fields, for example:

The representatives of these surgical clinics participate regularly in the interdisciplinary tumor board meetings at NCT. Together with their colleagues from other medical fields, they discuss for every individual case whether surgery is reasonable or not. The Heidelberg University Hospital Department of Surgery is internationally renowned for its medical expertise. Various teams of highly qualified physicians and nurses provide outpatient and inpatient care.
