From mid-October, patients and anyone interested can regulary obtain first-hand information on topics related to breast health. In online lectures, experts from the Heidelberg Breast Center at Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD) report on the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant breast diseases, breast malformations and support services such as social services. First speaker is Dr. Stefanie Buchen, head of the Breast Center and certified breast surgeon. In her lecture she talks about: "What is feasible today in breast surgery?" Participation in the online events is free of charge. Registration by mail is requested.

"At the Breast Center, it is important to us to accompany our patients comprehensively and empathetically. It is therefore very important to us to create an additional offer through the online lectures for everyone who would like to obtain well-founded information directly from experts. The lecturers convey current medical knowledge in an understandable and practical way, from oncological topics to the opportunities and possibilities of reconstructive and aesthetic surgery," reports Dr. Stefanie Buchen. "Interdisciplinary and individual therapy planning within the Breast Center as well as close cooperation with our colleagues in private practice is essential for optimal patient care. This also includes providing patients and their relatives with the best possible information so that they can make the right decision for themselves and their own health," says Prof. Markus Wallwiener, Acting Medical Director of Heidelberg University Women's Hospital.

The Breast Center at the UKHD combines all specialist areas for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the female – and in rarer cases the male – breast. Patients benefit from state-of-the-art equipment for modern and multimodal breast diagnostics, systemic and targeted therapies as well as surgical and reconstructive procedures individually tailored to the patient. The central component of the Breast Center is the certified Breast Cancer Center, where over 650 patients are treated each year.
