Music therapy online group program: "Embrace the power of music!"

A cancer diagnosis often turns the lives of those affected "upside down". Suddenly you find yourself in a situation that is characterized by great insecurity and uncertainty. In such a situation, resources are extremely important. Resources are all the factors that a person can fall back on to make dealing with a stressful situation easier. For many people, music is such a valuable resource, because music can sweep us away and has an immediate effect on our feelings.

The music therapy group offers sessions in which we listen to music together and discuss what music triggers in us and how we can use the calming or invigorating effect of music for our own benefit. The group sessions are online, i.e. video-based, to enable patients who are physically limited due to the side effects of treatment, for example, to participate.

The following topics are the focus of the music therapy online group:

  • Music as a resource
  • Getting to know one's own musical biography
  • Dealing with fears, worries and other stressful feelings
  • Self-care
  • Relaxation and mindfulness through music

Start of the next course:

The group sessions take place once a week on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6:15 p.m. and are conducted online. The first session will be on November 12, 2024, and the last on January 14, 2025. The program is aimed at patients with cancer who are undergoing or have just completed medical treatment.

Important: No previous musical knowledge is required.

If you are interested, please contact the psycho-oncology team on 06221 56-47 27 or by email: psychoonkologie(at)nct-heidelberg.de.
