New members in the Managing Directorate

The managing directorate of the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg is expanding and will comprise seven members in the future. The new managing directors are Lena Maier-Hein and Eva Winkler. As head of administration of the NCT Heidelberg, Karolin Willmund is also a new member of the managing directorate.

Lena Maier-Hein is head of the Department of Computer-Assisted Medical Interventions at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). Eva Winkler is Head of the Translational Medicine Ethics Section, Senior Physician in the Department of Medical Oncology at Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD) and Head of the NCT program EPOC (Ethics and Patient-Oriented Care in Oncology) - further information and contact details.

The background to the structural change in the managing directorate of the NCT Heidelberg is the expansion of the NCT network throughout Germany. In addition to the NCT Heidelberg and NCT/UCC Dresden, four more locations are to be established as part of the National Decade Against Cancer. These are NCT Berlin, NCT West (Cologne/Essen), NCT Südwest (Tübingen/Stuttgart-Ulm) and NCT WERA (Würzburg with partners Erlangen, Regensburg and Augsburg). The NCT in Heidelberg and Dresden, together with the future NCT locations and the DKFZ, have developed a strategy concept for the NCT network and submitted it to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the project sponsor at the end of January. International experts will assess the concept in April. If the evaluation is positive, the new NCT network will start working in the second half of 2022.
