In 2026, the NCT Run once again impressively demonstrated how much can be achieved through shared commitment: Approximately 3,500 people participated in the NCT Heidelberg charity event from July 10 to 12. Whether running, hiking, or walking – people of all ages across all seven continents showed their solidarity with cancer patients.

The spirit of community was particularly evident this year through numerous joint running events. Participants organized running meetups via social media and racked up kilometers together. The Heidelberg Gymnastics Club’s Bahnstadt Run was once again a partner of the NCT Run: Through the integrated NCT Run kilometer, the runners there alone contributed 2,214 kilometers to the total result.

In total, participants covered over 56,000 kilometers, significantly exceeding the original goal of 40,000 kilometers. Thanks to donations from participants, support from the main sponsor SAP, and other partners, approximately 55,000 euros were raised for applied cancer research at the NCT Heidelberg.

The proceeds from the donations go toward the NCT Heidelberg’s “Donations Against Cancer” funding program. This program annually supports selected innovative projects in research, care, and counseling that help further improve the treatment of cancer patients.
