The annual meeting of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) will take place from October 23 to 27 in Madrid, Spain. In parallel with the on-site exam, the ESMO exam will be offered in Heidelberg for medical oncologists on October 24, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM. The 150-minute ESMO exam offers medical oncologists the opportunity to test their knowledge. Successful candidates will be certified for a period of five years.

The exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. They cover all areas of medical oncology, including fundamental elements of tumor pathology, histology, epidemiology, and biology. In addition to all types of cancer, the ESMO exam also includes practice-oriented questions on the diagnosis, staging, treatment, and prognosis of cancer patients.

Interested parties must register via the ESMO website by July 21, 2026, at the latest.

The exam will be held in the lecture hall of the Kopfklinik, Im Neuenheimer Feld 400, 69120 Heidelberg. Directions to the lecture hall will be posted starting at the main entrance of the Kopfklinik. Further information on how to get there can be found at this link.
