A heartfelt pre-Christmas present

Once again this year, patients at the NCT Heidelberg can look forward to handmade gifts with heart - a campaign that has been organised for many years by Claudia Brown, a member of staff, and Heike Wachow, Head of the NCT Patient Centres and Outpatient Clinics. The donations were handed over to Dirk Jäger, Managing Director of the NCT Heidelberg and Head of Medical Oncology at Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD).

Some of the gifts were made by craftspeople from the Heidelberg International Women's Club (HIWC) and pupils from the Konrad-Duden-Realschule Mannheim. The heart cushions made by the donors are not only beautiful to look at, but also have a practical use: They can relieve pain after breast surgery by being placed in the armpit. They also provide a sense of security.

The crochet ladies' circle from Haßloch has once again donated crocheted animals, self-sewn boots and soft toys for ANKKER, the programme for children of parents with cancer. There are also other crocheted items for patients.

The heart cushions and other handicrafts are available on tables in the waiting area of day clinics 1 and 2 at the NCT Heidelberg and can simply be taken away. The crocheted animals for children of parents with cancer are distributed directly by ANKKER.
