Meeting in Paris: NCT Heidelberg and DKFZ at “Gustave Roussy & Friends Invite”

The second edition of “Gustave Roussy & Friends Invite” once again provided a platform for exchange between leading oncology institutions in Europe. This year, the Gustave Roussy Institute invited the NCT Heidelberg together with the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) to discuss current developments and challenges in oncology with international partners and guests from science, clinics, and healthcare.

The meeting, with a total of around 360 participants, was marked by lively discussions. The intensive professional exchange reflected the great interest in further networking and joint projects. More than 30 people from Heidelberg took part, including numerous researchers and clinicians from various departments of the NCT Heidelberg. The Executive Board was also present: Stefan Fröhling, Peter Lichter, Dirk Jäger, and Amir Abdollahi actively participated in the discussions and contributed to the visibility of NCT Heidelberg in the international arena.

The program included keynotes, round tables, flash talks, and interactive working groups. Topics ranged from early drug development to digital patient models in personalized medicine, survivorship concepts, and liquid biopsies to the use of artificial intelligence in research, regulatory issues, the role of patients, and innovative cell therapies. The NCT Heidelberg Patient Research Council and the DKFZ Cancer Research Patient Advisory Board provided insights into patient participation.

The event offered many starting points for future joint activities, which will be further specified in the near future. The meeting once again demonstrated the importance of international cooperation in jointly advancing research and care—with the clear goal of sustainably improving patient treatment.
