Impressive reading: Marlene Assmann at the psycho-oncological network meeting
She has an extraordinary story to tell and her contribution to the 19th Rhine-Neckar Psycho-Oncology Network Meeting was correspondingly impressive: author Marlene Assmann read from her book "All good? All good!". She wrote and drew the graphic memoir - an autobiographical comic novel - six years ago. Marlene Assmann was pregnant with her son Luka when she was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a brain tumor with a very poor prognosis for recovery. Originally written with the intention of leaving something for Luka, her book tells her very dramatic, but nevertheless hopeful, story of her illness.
Till Johannes Bugaj, Head of the Psychooncology Section at the NCT Heidelberg, hosted the evening and thanked Marlene Assmann for sharing her inspiring story with those present: "Our network meetings have a long tradition, but such a touching reading is also something very special for us." Many participants were visibly moved during Marlene Assmann's reading.
The Mannheim/Heidelberg/Rhine-Neckar psycho-oncology network meeting serves as a forum for peer exchange and networking in the region. Network partners and specialists involved in the psychological support of cancer patients were invited. These include psycho-oncologists who work in a clinic, at the NCT Heidelberg, at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), in cancer counselling centers or in their own outpatient psychotherapy practices.
The North Baden Psychosocial Cancer Counseling Center organizes this series of events at irregular intervals in cooperation with the Psychooncology Department of the NCT Heidelberg. Continuing education points are awarded for participation. The next network meeting is expected to take place in November 2024.
