NCT Cancer Registry
NCT Cancer Registry
The NCT Cancer Registry records key diagnoses, treatment and outcome data of all cancer patients treated at NCT and associated institutions. Implemented in 2007, the NCT Cancer Registry, with a staff of 12 part- and full-time scientists and technicians, is integrated into the electronic patient record system of the Clinic Information Systems (KIS) of Heidelberg University Hospital. The registry has been expanding to an almost complete diagnosis registry including out-patients in 2008 and core treatment data in 2009 for Heidelberg University Hospital. After-care data will be collected together with office-based physicians, including feedback from the Federal State Cancer Registry from 2011 onwards.
Services of the NCT Cancer Registry include:
Regular reports on numbers and diagnostic profiles of NCT patients
Data support for the preparation of tumor boards and clinical trials
Quality metrics for benchmarking oncological diagnostics and treatment
Scientific data on medical care issues
Mandatory cancer incident reporting to the State Cancer Registry
A novel, web-based software platform, currently implemented for clinical cancer registration in Heidelberg, will be extended into separately documented activities in psychooncology, dietary counseling and tissue/biobanking. The registry leadership has key involvement in the nationwide clinical cancer registry activity for quality assurance of medical care in Germany.
