Patient Admission
General Information

The main contact point for all oncology patients is NCT’s interdisciplinary Tumor Outpatient Unit. If patients present for the first time at our Outpatient Unit, we will first take a detailed medical history, perform a physical exam and assess the results of technical examinations. On this basis, a treatment recommendation will be produced. Patients may also schedule a consultation for a new evaluation while receiving treatment. For first-time appointments at NCT, please provide your patient with all relevant records.

Every new patient will be seen by a senior physician of NCT. Afterwards, the case will be discussed in an interdisciplinary Tumor Board, which will provide a recommendation for the further treatment concept. If patients are to receive chemotherapy, we will try to refer them to an oncology practice or clinic close to their place of residence. Alternatively, chemotherapy can be carried out in one of the two day clinics at NCT. NCT has entered a collaboration agreement with hematologists and oncologists who are members of the Association of Practicing Hematologists and Oncologists (BNHO) in Northern Baden, which will further strengthen the existing close collaboration in the care of oncology patients.

Appointments

Appointments for a consultation at NCT’s Outpatient Unit can be scheduled by calling
+49 (0)6221 56-4801. New patients at NCT are asked to bring, if possible, detailed reports about their disease and any treatment they have received so far. In particular, we need the following information (if available) to issue a treatment recommendation:

  • Original pathology report(s) about the tumor
  •  X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, either as films or on CD (in DiCom format, no paper images)
  •  Reports by attending physicians about previous treatments (type of surgery, previous chemotherapy, previous radiotherapy)
  •  Reports about other relevant accompanying conditions

If further diagnostic measures are necessary in order to provide a treatment recommendation, these can be carried out at Heidelberg University Hospital or outside the NCT system.
